Haryana women to lose share in Government Jobs

Women in Haryana are losing their share in government jobs due to faulty implementation of the much-hyped reservation policy. 
While women are already holding 44% jobs of school teachers in the state on the basis of merit, the government is now offering them just 33% posts in the name of reservation policy, said sources. 
Recently, many girls could not make it to the merit list for the post of school lecturers in screening test conducted by Haryana Public Service Commission despite the fact they scored more marks than their counterparts. 
Sources said that boys who got just 71 marks figured in the merit list, but girls had to secure minimum 76 marks to get the same post. For the post of English teachers, males came in the merit list with a score as low as 50 marks, while the cut off list for women was 62 marks.

Basic amenities in schools: Supreme Court praises Directorate of Education Delhi

After facing the Supreme Court's flak for lacking the requisite number of teachers and basic infrastructure such as potable water, toilets and electricity in government-run schools in the Capital, the Directorate of Education (DoE), Delhi has won kudos from the same court.
Such is the appreciation for the improvement made in the past couple of years in the Capital's schools that the apex court said Delhi model should be replicated across India.
"We would like the primary schools all over the country to follow the pattern of Directorate of Education, Delhi and provide similar facilities," a bench headed by justice Dalveer Bhandari said.
The bench, seized of a petition by Environment and Consumer Protection Foundation in 2004 highlighting the plight of government-run schools in Delhi and lack of basic facilities such as drinking water, separate toilets for boys and girls toilets and safe buildings, has already enlarged its ambit to ensure similar facilities are made available to all government across India so that right to education is implemented properly.
The court had on February 8 ordered all district collectors and magistrates to submit a report in this regard within four weeks to the chief secretary/administrator of their respective state/union territory, who in turn would file a comprehensive affidavit before it in six weeks.
Regarding Delhi, the court said: "In view of the status report filed by the Directorate of Education, NCT of Delhi, no further directions are necessary for the time being."
The Directorate of Education of Delhi government runs 937 schools in 680 building in morning and evening shifts and approximately 14 lakh students are studying in these schools. All schools have pucca boundary walls except four, where boundary wall is temporary due to some pending court cases.

The Teacher Eligibility Test (TET)

The Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) is set to be made mandatory for aspirants to be able to teach in private and government school. 
Eligibility : The following persons shall be eligible for appearing in the TET:
i. A person who has acquired the academic and professional qualifications specified in the NCTE Notification dated 23rd August, 2010.
ii. A person who is pursuing any of the teacher education courses(recognized by the NCTE or the RCI, as the case may be) specified in the NCTE  Notification dated 23rd August, 2010.

Structure and Content of TET :The structure and content of the TET is given in the following paragraphs. All questions will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), each carrying one mark, with
four alternatives out of which one answer will be correct. There will be no negative marking. 
The examining body should strictly adhere to the structure and content of the TET specified below.
 
There will be two papers of the TET. 
Paper I will be for a person who intends to be a teacher for classes I to V. 
Paper II will be for a person who intends to be a teacher for classes VI to VIII. 
A person who intends to be a teacher either for classes I to V or for classes VI to VIII will have to appear in both papers (Paper I and Paper II). 

                         Paper I (for classes I to V); No. of MCQs – 150;  

                         Duration of examination: one-and-a-half hours 

                            Structure and Content (All Compulsory)

(i) Child Development and Pedagogy            30 MCQs            30 Marks

Frequency of conduct of TET and validity period of TET certificate:The appropriate Government should conduct a TET at least once every year. The Validity Period of TET qualifying certificate for appointment will be decided by the appropriate Government subject to a maximum of seven years for all categories.

More Than 1000 Guest Teachers Will go back to pavilion Soon in Haryana

The state government has cracked the whip on guest teachers, who have managed to get jobs through illegal means. According to sources, over 500 guest teachers have been given the termination orders and an equal number of teachers will have to face the similar fate. There are over 16,000 guest teachers working in the state.

The recruitment of the guest teachers started in 2005. However, the state government clamped a ban on appointment of new guest teachers in 2007.

Sources in the state Education Department revealed that an inquiry had been ordered in the appointment of guest teachers, following reports of irregularities in recruitment.

It was pointed out that certain teachers were appointed even though they were older than the set age or did not have the right combination of subjects in BEd degree.
